We are looking forward to offering our clients the new service of Canine Massage Therapy. This relaxing touch, which only massages the soft tissue, has many positive benefits for your dog’s physical, emotional, and mental being.

Why Massage?

  • Massage physically relaxes the body, reduces mental stress, reduces anxiety and calms the nervous system.
  • Massage can be used to release endorphins, speed recovery from injury or illness, reduce swelling and scarring.
  • Massage improves the circulation of blood throughout all of the body, which improves the general health of all beings.
  • Massage and stretching of connective tissue improve flexibility, range of motion of joints and improves "posture".

Personal Experience:

  • A dog having a difficulty focusing or relaxing enough to learn during a training session can greatly improve after a short massage session.
  • "Rescued" or older dogs being adopted into a new home can build a more secure bond with their new owner through massage.
  • Massage is very helpful in conditioning aloof dogs to enjoy being "handled", even for nail trims and ear cleaning.

Dr Tiffany Field, Director of Touch Research Institute is often quoted as saying:

"Before drugs there was massage therapy."
